I understand that walking and running in races are potentially hazardous activities. I should not enter and run or walk in the WWU Wrestling 5K (the “Event”) unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of an Event official relative to my ability to safely complete the Event. I assume every risk associated with participating in the Event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with Event participants or volunteers, the effects of the weather, and course conditions, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of my application, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, do waive and release the WWU Wrestling 5K, Western Washington University, the City of Bellingham, event sponsors, organizers and volunteers, and their representatives, agents, affiliates, employees and successors from all claims and/or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in the Event even though such liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I also grant permission to all the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of the Event for any legitimate purpose.

This section to be read and signed by parent/legal guardian if Participant is a minor: As the parent/legal guardian of the above-named Participant, I hereby waive and release on behalf of my child, any and all claims, and causes of action, or liabilities which may hereafter accrue against The WWU Wrestling 5K, Western Washington University, the City of Bellingham, event sponsors, organizers and volunteers, and their representatives, agents, affiliates, employees and successors by reason of my child’s participation in said program, including any and all claims for personal injuries negligence caused by WWU Wrestling 5k. In addition, I accept full responsibility for the care and supervision of my child during the WWU Wrestling 5k.

Race Description:

The WWU Wrestling 5k will takes place on the trails of Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, WA.

The course begins adjacent to the Picnic Shelter near the playground and basketball courts at the eastern (golf course) end of Lake Padden. Water will be provided at the start/finish area.

The course is a double loop with the start going south and looping up toward the parking lot then back down and around the lake once.

Race Etiquette:

In order to keep our race safe and enjoyable for all participants, we have a few safety requests:

Feel free to listen to anything you please through ONE ear bud during the race, allowing the other ear to hear other runners, traffic, and race information.
Baby joggers are not allowed on the race course.
NO dogs allowed on the course.
This is a zero waste event, if it cannot be easily composted, please take it home with you.
Please be courteous to all other trail users, fellow runners and race volunteers.
Lastly, have fun!

Post Race Awards:

Top 3 overall place finishers will be awarded for Male, Female, Boys, and Girls divisions.

Parking:

Parking is available in the lot above the registration area, along the access road in designated areas.

Do not park in either the gravel or the paved parking lots adjacent to the dog park – these are reserved for dog owners and other park users.

Results:

A spreadsheet of results linked to bib numbers will be uploaded below within a week of race completion.
